I recently went to a wedding where the groom explained one of Plato's theories. From what I understand, the theory is where two humans have only half of a soul and spend their entire lives looking for the other person who makes their two souls into one.

not to be dramatic, but i found my human.

The funniest part of it all is he has been in front of my eyes for the past 7 years, and has been disguised as one of my best friends throughout that time.

I just didn't know how else to say, I've never been happier in all of my life

and I'm completely in love with this human.

Perfectly Aligned.

I have really dropped the ball on this whole blogging thing, but to be completely honestly my life has been pretty dull this summer.  I have loved teaching swimming lessons-- it has been a great job and I hope that I will stick around so that I can teach it next summer.  But besides that, nothing more than that has really happened.

It has been an interesting summer.  I'm not sure if it's because I am growing up and graduated college or if I'm just an overall more lame human.  My schedule consisted of mostly working and being home by 10 pm to talk to Bryan on the phone for an hour before he went to bed.  I have missed my best friend Heidi who is away in Boston building a career woman out of herself-- but proud of her nonetheless. Luckily for me I have got to spend a lot of time with my other BFF Lucy who I haven't had this much fun with since two summers ago when all we did was play play play. Things have really started to look up.

Bryan came home from Texas this last Sunday and it feels like my summer has actually begun!!! It has not even been a week and we have had so much fun catching up on all the things we missed out on this summer including Farmer's Market, Twilight Concert, Drive In, lots of swimming, scooter rides, & all that good stuff. He is basically the worlds best human and I don't want to say I'm obsessed with him, but...

Another huge part of my life that everyone thinks I'm being dramatic about (but I'm for sure not!) is my new bed!!!!! Okay so I got an adorable new queen size bed that lit'rally made me feel more grown up getting that than my diploma in the mail.

Last, but not least I got a big girl job-- and I really mean a big one! I went into an interview at Granite School District thinking I was interviewing to be an assistant in the ASSERT program, which is helping teach pre-school children with autism but came out being a Lead Preschool teacher at Kearns Elementary! Who ever thought I would teach preschool?! Not this girl! But I'm so excited!!!! If anything swimming lessons has prepared me for this job, and I love teaching.  I am so excited for this new chapter and challenge in my life.  I gotta start preparing though now so I can know what the crap I'm doing on the first day of school, it's coming up quick! The perks are no nights, weekends or holidays which will be unlike any other job I've had in my whole life! I can't wait!

Although it has been a pretty slow summer, everything has been aligning perfectly these past few weeks and I truly couldn't be happier.

But like I always say... "HAGS"

catch up.

Okay so unfortunately my life is not that exciting since graduation...
People keep asking me what I am going to do with my life and when I'm going to get married (obviously thats the only thing left to do once you have a degree....) But I am still just trying to figure it all out.

After graduation I can say that I basically slept for a month straight... and it was awesome! Not only that, but I went go karting, mini golfing, to the driving range, on scooter rides, hiking, went to the zoo, boating, read a few books, had a few bbqs, bating cages for the first time, went to a Bees game...you know, average-everyday summer activities. Overall it felt like a successful summer in just a few short weeks.

Some of the biggest news as of lately:
As of a week ago I am back to the wonderful world of employment...
I am back to serving again in those black non-slip shoes that are oh-so-unholy.  I am a server at Pizza Factory and it ain't half bad.  I also just got a job at a catering company as well, and to top it all off swimming lessons start on Monday! Not going to be as much of a relaxing summer as I would have hoped working 3 jobs, but somebody's gotta bring home the bacon.

In Other News:
This summer has so far been an interesting one.  I have gotten close to someone who basically makes me laugh my brains out at least 100 times a day and who I spend some of my time thinking about which hasn't happened to me in a few years; yes, its all very exciting.   I've also grown apart from some people who I've grown up with. It's been an interesting process and seeing not only myself grow and change, but also my relationships. However, I am still a believer in everything happening for a reason.

I recently went to Oregon to see my sister, her husband and my niece Lillie! It was an awesome family vacation and the puuuuuuurfect way to ring in my 22nd birthday.  Being by the ocean with some of my favorite peeps was all I needed--- well, that and a delicious cake baked by the legend Scott Webb.

I guess you could say I'm just leading the average life of any 22 year old in America.
Crazy to think a year ago from today I was in Africa.
Crazier to try to think of where I will be in a year from today.

A Few Things to Look Forward To:
Swimming Lessons!!!!!
World Oceans Day!!!
FARMERS MARKET!!!!
Texas!!!

But like I always say... "Summer time and the livin' is easy"

love to love.

I'm not a love hater. In fact, I'm quite the opposite. I really dont know WHY I love love so much, but I just do. I think its because I want to believe is something... and since Santa isn't real and the tooth fairy never actually brought me money I want to believe is something sort of magical.

So I guess I'll believe in love.

My #1 life goal is to never get divored. And I understand that this is slightly ridiculous and everyone laughs at me, and the statstics and world all seem to be against me... but I will say that when I write down my goals I almost never fail. and I really really hope I never get divorced.

I've met a lot of love-haters lately. I'm not exactly sure why this is... they have probably been hurt or seen their loved ones suffer, whatever.  All I'm saying is... You aren't the only person who has been hurt. and sometimes, I think that people forget that. Just because you got hurt once doesn't mean you always will. Doesn't mean you won't eventually heal. And it sure doesn't mean the whole world is out to get you.

"And if you're in love then you're the lucky one because most of us are bitter over someone" -- Youth, by Daughter.

The way I see it is... people fall in love. And usually it happens pretty quickly, and eventually that wears off. But love isn't just about the excitement and the lust and the almost obsession. Love is a decision. It's a conscious effort and commitment to one person for the rest of your life. To be there when things are good as well as when things are rough. And you might not always like the person that you love, but you will always defend them and drop your pride because that's what peope should do when they are in love.

I just want my husband to be in love with my for life.  And I really want people to be able to tell how much I love my husband, my whole life.  I want them to know that when I look at him our love is real and it's forever.

Maybe I'm a dreamer, but I think its a pretty worthy goal.

but like I always say... "I love to love you, but above all, I love to love"

My name is Rachelle... and I'm looking for a job.

This past week I hit a major life milestone... I graduated from Utah State University.

It was really an awesome day, full of pictures, great food, great company, etc.  It was just really strange because it wasn't as big of a deal as you think it would be... like I just shook some strangers hand and got a booklet with a piece of paper stating I would get my diploma in the next 8 weeks. Like, okay....

All I'm saying is, graduation has given me the greatest thing ever-- and thats the ability to breathe and just live my motto of "do what I feel" for once in my life.  Dedicating this summer to accomplishing all the goals I've neglected this past year, like developing hobbies for instance.

The past 4 weeks have truly been so amazing and I've basically never been happier.  With little to no finals and just hanging out with some pretty amazing people I was able to actually enjoy my last few weeks of school after such a challenging senior year.

I will admit that getting an email from both Kappa Delta headquarters as well as USU University that said something along the lines of "Welcome to the Wonderful World of Alumni-hood" basically made me cry.

It's just strange that my WHOLE LIFE I've just been doing the same thing... going to school, enjoying life... and the morning of graduation I woke up I thought to myself "the second I get out of this bed my life will never be the same again".  The best (aka the worst) part about graduation is all of the sudden everyone expects me to just be the crazy-mature adult who talks about sophistication and my awesome future plans when honestly, all I want to do is sleep until everyone goes back to school before I really get a job again.  I mean of course I'm going to use my degree in Social Work-- I love it.  It's just that I'm still a mere 21 year old trying out to figure out what to do in life.

All I'm saying is according to recent life events, I'm for sure supposed to be an adult... but I'm still trying to figure it all out.  It is really just a strange place to be in my life now... It's like my 5 year plan has officially ended, so I don't even know what to do with my life! It's exciting and scary at the same time.

but like Vitamin C always says... "As we go on, we remember all the times we had together, and as our lives change, come whatever...we will still be friends forever".
--yeah, couldn't have said it better myself.

Great company, literature, & scenery.

Spring break was an enjoyable time. I loved it because I got to spend it with some great friends I have remained close with since high school, and I got to go to Disney Land, and have a carefree week with some good company, and also because I read a great book.
I love reading, I really do... I just have a hard time making it a priority during the school year. Things get pretty crazy in between two jobs, classes, internship, dating, friends, and keeping up with the enjoyable things in love. So, I decided to treat myself because of the occasion and I read a great book, Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbsoky.

I saw the movie when it first came out, and I loved it! It's a "my people" kind of movie... coming of age-esque which are my favorite. In short, the movie is sort of a misfit kid just trying to find his place in high school.  Charlie, the main character, goes through a series of misfortunes in his life which led to him having some emotional insecurities and a bit of trauma.  Because of the nature of the book as well as all my free time on spring break...and this point in my life, and being close to the ocean,  I've thought a lot about my life. and how crazy the ocean is... and how it's so deep! and how it's been around for so long and we still don't know basically anything about it when it covers most of our planet. There really is something about the ocean; its history, depth and mystery that makes me reflect my life and think about my past and imagine my future...which has really got me thinking...

I can't sit here and act like I have had an extremely difficult life like Charlie, because I haven't.  I have been raised in a pretty privileged home with a great and loving family.  I have some amazing friends and have been on some amazing adventures. Sure, not everything is perfect and we all have had our trials, troubles, and secrets... But I couldn't help but to try to put myself in Charlies shoes and think about love and happiness and life.

The book has some really good quotes in the book that really inspired me and were quite thought provoking

"I think that if I ever have kids, and they are upset, I won't tell them that people are starving in China or anything like that because it wouldn't change the fact that they were upset. And even if someone else has it much worse, that doesn't really change the fact that you have what you have."

"So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and i'm still trying to figure out how that can be"

"And all the books you've read have been read by other people and all the songs you've loved have been heard by other people and that girl that's pretty to you is pretty o other people. and you know that if you looked at these facts when you were happy, you would feel great because you are describing "unity".
It's like when you are excited about a girl and you see a couple holding hands, and you feel so happy for them. And other times you see the same couple, and they make you feel mad. And all you want is to feel happy for them because you know that if you do, then it means that you're happy, too."

I guess the reason all of this is so significant to me right now is because I'm about to make some major life changes. I'm about to graduate from Utah State University and end a period where I have had the most amazing four years of my whole life. And leave a lot of people that mean so much to me and just not really see them anymore because we are all moving on with our lives. and it sorta just makes me sad. I realize things can't always stay the same.  I'm like a real adult now I guess... even though I don't feel like it. I still feel like a small child because I'm still not really sure how I can make everything I want to do with my life a reality.

I've really thought about what happiness means to me. and how sometimes you can be both happy and sad. and how humans really DO accept the love they think they deserve, whether that is good or bad. and how some people in their lives really do go through some really terrible things. and I guess... I don't know. I guess we are all "Charlie's", trying to find our way through life. Trying to get the person that won't love us back. and trying to please our parents while trying to fit in at school. and not always being confident in something that we are really amazing at. and writing to someone who might not ever know or understand us. and having a real passion for something that sometimes people don't understand. and that things don't always make sense, or necessarily work out how we expected, but that's life. and that's what makes it exciting.

Moral of the story... read Perks of Being a Wallflower. And go to the ocean.

But like I always say... "...Things change. Friends leave. And life doesn't stop for anybody." -Charlie

society is screwed up.

When I tell people I am the SAAVI Intern, I get a number of responses.  One I can't handle is when people joke about rape. I love this video and appreciate this guy and for calling people out.

but like I always say... "dont be creepy"

seriously.
